Precision Powder Micro-dosing
Capsugel’s patented precision powder micro-dosing systems use the pepper-pot principle to dispense dose weights as low as 100 micrograms, allowing you to precisely, accurately and repeatedly fill capsules and other small dose containers without excipients or bulking agents. Most blends, or formulated products, can also be filled without segregation.
By implementing the Xcelodose system, pharmaceutical companies can:

Robust Features: Precision Dosing, Optimized Filling and More
Whether you require automatic or semi-automatic operation, Capsugel has a precision powder micro-dosing system to fit your needs. Both the Xcelodose 120S and 600S equipment models can fill capsules, while the 120S model can also fill a variety of small dose containers such as vials, tubes, blisters and cassettes. Other robust features of these systems include:
- Highly consistent dose accuracy – Programmable dispensing of dose weights from 100 micrograms to 100 milligrams with recording to allow traceability for GMP requirements
- Filling pure drug alone – Simplifying analytical and stability protocols and reducing waste
- Filling most blends – Without segregation
- Ability to handle moisture-sensitive compounds – Relative humidity (RH) in the dispensing area can be reduced to < 5% and controlled to +/-1% of desired RH
- Software automatically optimizes the filling process – Compensates for any variability in drug powder properties
- Simple user interface – Continuous data display and on-screen instructions with full audit trail traceability
- Bench-top dispensing unit with separate control cabinet – Allows for use of flow hoods, fume cupboards and other isolation or containment units while quick-change parts allow easy switching between capsule sizes
- Full Support and other options available – Annual maintenance agreement offered along with choice between 2gm, 5gm or 10gm balance and slow/fast tapper head options. An extended set of GMP validation documents is available for the Xcelodose 600S system.
