Job Description:

The role will be a recognized process expert in purification operations (Downstream DSP), supporting multiple customer project teams to transfer manufacturing processes into the Vacaville site as well as maintaining and improving existing commercial processes. This role has the opportunity to develop extensive internal and external networks while building influence and credibility in the industry. In addition, the role will act as a coach/mentor to more junior team members and cross functionally as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).​ 

Key responsibilities:

  • Represents and guides Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT) customer project teams to transfer complex processes into DSP GMP manufacturing from international process development and other manufacturing sites.

  • Accountable for the management of technical risks associated with process transfer, identification & introduction of new raw materials for pilot and production scale batches

  • Work cross functionally to ensure communication of all critical process and technical information to meet the required deadlines/customer outcomes.

  • Provide on-plant technical support, process monitoring and complex data analysis. Responsible for delivering effective operator training for critical unit/process operations and off line completion of quality actions (e.g. deviations, change controls, CAPA’s)

  • Design and implement manufacturing controls and process monitoring systems to ensure continuous process verification (CPV) is met for commercial processes.

  • Resolve complex manufacturing process issues through continuous improvements made to the GMP manufacturing processes and operations.

  • Develop knowledge base working with SMEs and guide junior level team members on specific technical problem resolution through sharing key knowledge.

  • Plan and implement, laboratory experiments.

  • Resolve technical challenges within area of expertise preventing deviations in unit operations including interaction and strong communication with both internal and external team(s).

  • Introduction of new technologies applicable to process innovation, cost or yield improvement.

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or relevant field.

  • Ensure compliance to EHS policies and guidelines applicable within the department.  Observe safety practices in job tasks and work areas.

  • Ability to analyze problems, practices or procedures in order to define the problem and recognize alternatives and their implications.  

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate data to propose improvements. 

  • Adaptable to fast-paced environments, shifting workloads, and timelines.

The full-time base annual salary for this position is expected to range between $95,000 and $153,000. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and job-related knowledge.
